Our external commitments to those most affected must also be reflected in CIVICUS’s internal systems and processes. Therefore, we will undertake the following institutional strengthening and accountability practices to enable the successful delivery of our strategy:
RESILIENT SYSTEMS
We will enhance our interconnected internal technology framework by centralising Information Technology (IT) tools in one location. It will provide improved efficiency and ensure IT procedures and policies are better understood across the organisation. We will maintain a secure and stable IT environment while improving our security posture within all organisational systems. We will replace the current Workplace platform with more efficient and versatile communication tools that will facilitate both internal and external engagement. We will develop quality standards, guidelines, best practices and toolkits for member and team support. Additionally, we will digitise HR processes to improve critical turnaround times. We will strengthen our data security measures across all systems to protect sensitive information and ensure organisational resilience against cyber threats.
RESILIENT FINANCES
We continue our targeted donor outreach and related activities to grow and diversify our supporter base. We focus on securing core-flexible funds while strengthening strategic collaboration through our donor coordination group. We are addressing the current funding crisis by developing a diversified strategy that includes non-traditional funders and innovative fundraising methods. In parallel, we are strengthening advocacy efforts with allies to boost philanthropic support, while implementing a unified resourcing plan and effective grant coordination to ensure long-term sustainability. We will strengthen our budgeting processes for greater financial sustainability, including a review of monitoring systems and the development of automated tools. We will finalise and roll out a proposal development system, ensuring a more systematic approach to resource mobilisation.
RESILIENT PEOPLE
We ensure staff are informed and aligned with CIVICUS principles and values through our learning and development framework. It incorporates concepts and leadership practices that foster a shared identity and enhance collaboration across teams. The continued roll-out of the CIVICUS Unified Code of Ethics, including updates to our suite of Code of Conduct related policies, will ensure greater understanding and application of these provisions across the Secretariat and wider alliance. We will also strengthen our external communications capabilities by building media and public engagement readiness across the organisation and its membership.
LEARNING AND GROWING IMPACT
In line with our Integrated Results Framework, we measure our progress using both qualitative and quantitative metrics. In this annual plan narrative, the relevance and quality of our work is reflected through learning questions per strategic objective, with indicators including annual targets. We will conduct an internal mid-term strategic review to understand progress against our objectives and outcomes. The implementation of standardised funder reporting processes will bring greater efficiency to our accountability systems. We will develop and test a standardised programme incubation process to ensure innovative initiatives are effectively nurtured and scaled. To preserve institutional knowledge, we will document the CIVICUS story.
