Cyprus
From 2003 to 2006, the Civil Society Index was implemented in Cyprus by the Intercollege (southern Cyprus) and the Management Centre (northern Cyprus), with the international coordination of CIVICUS. This implementation led to the publication of an analytical country report, presenting the results of the CSI initiative in the country.
An Assessment of Civil Society in Cyprus: a map for the future
Over that period, due to the de facto division of the island since 1974, the project was conducted separately in the northern and southern parts of Cyprus. In the northern part the Management Centre for the Mediterranean (MC-Med) took the lead in implementing the project, while in the southern part the project was implemented by Inter college.
Although two reports were produced, assessing the state of civil society in both the northern and southern parts of the island, the implementing organizations agreed to publish the reports in one document as a symbolic gesture of their commitment to a common future and a common polity for Cyprus.
From 2008 to 2010, the Civil Society Index is being implemented by the Management Centre and the NGO Support Centre.
